For over forty years we have treated Cuba as if it were a step-child to the world. Seemingly lost to time and cause; however, with a new administration, that has ran a race on change. It seems it may be time to change our stance on Cuba. How funny, when Obama’s name is mentioned, many older Americans think of Kennedy, how fitting this would be the man to change what his predecessor put in place. If or when Cube is brought back into the fold, what do we do with her? How do we go about rebuilding commerce with a country we have held at bay for the past forty plus years. Not only that, how does Cuba gain power on this new global scene, when it has been left in the dark for so long. There was once a time where Cube was the hottest destination Americans had, then with one foul swoop, the dream world of Cuba was taken away. Cuba, once a the play ground for the mafia, now seems to be a shell of its past. An empty cup longing to be filled by the life giving waters of society. However, bringing back to life to Cuba has it’s draw backs, the political adversary’s of America. What will become of them, because it seems that Cube is filled with them. How will President Obama react to this, what will be his policy. With the romard death of Fedel Castro, it is time to focus on the man and the myth, it is time to focus on the time he has regined over Cuba. Fedeal Castro has out lived those he nearly went to atomic war with. Castro, was and is still a rebal in many sorts, one that many believe would never die, one that has a legacy longer than any American President to date. Can we now view Cuba as a friend or should we look at them with careful eyes, eyes remembering the past. Cuba has been locked away from us for many years, but not by Cuba’s hand, but by our own. If Obama is true to his words of change then it is impossible for him to over look the element of change that Cuba needs. It is not only time to tare down the walls we have built against Cuba, but it is time to allow the scars to heal.
